Crawl Space Mold Removal - What NOT To Do! Crawl Space Mold Treatment
Are you looking to address mold in your crawl space, whether you're the home owner that's looking to hire someone, or the DIY'er? Here's what you don't do, stay tuned. Okay, couple of weeks ago we had a competitor that was going against us in a crawl space, of course, we try to do things a little different than our competitors.
One of the things that they were going to do is, they were going to ... In order to address the mold on the floor joist, they weren't gonna soda blast it. They were going to just spray it with a disinfectant,
which has been the standard for years. Just spray the wood with a disinfectant and don't visible remove it. The only problem with that is ... First of all, is if you don't physically remove the mold, whenever it goes time to sell the house it's gonna be a red flag with the home inspector.
It's like if you had a roof leak, you've ever seen the dark stain on a sheet rock. You may fix the roof leak, but if you don't take care of that dark stain on the sheet rock, again, it's still a red flag even though you had the roof fix and all that. So, it's best just to go ahead and remove the mold so that way you don't have to deal with it later on down the road.
Anyway, not only were they not gonna remove the mold, but, the other thing is they were just going to take the fiberglass insulation... In our area it's R-19, that's typically what's installed between joist.
They were just gonna pull the fiberglass down; just pull it down, lay it on the ground, spray the wood, and then put the fiberglass back up. Not sure why they were gonna do it that way, but that's the way they were gonna do it. So, when we address mold we pull the insulation out and throw it away.
Because what if that insulation has mold in it? Now, I know there's people out there that say, "Well, fiberglass can't grow mold, but the paper on the fiberglass can grow mold." Who's to say that mold isn't trapped in the fiberglass?
You may have spores or something like that trapped inside the fiberglass. If you don't physically remove that it could re-infect the space, right? So, not only that but some people don't even remove the insulation at all.
They will actually ... They would just spray the tips of the joist. They'll just leave the insulation in place, and then get a fogger ... And just like the piece of wood that's hanging down below the insulation, they'll just spray it and be, "Oh yeah, you got no mold now."
Again, not our way of doing things. So, if you want it done right, if you want it done where three years, five years, 20 years down the road the mold is physically removed, it's not gonna be a problem.
Concrobium Mold Control effectively removes and prevents mold without bleach, ammonia or VOCs. Concrobium works as it dries by crushing the shape spores at the roots and leaving behind an invisible antimicrobial hurdle to prevent future mold development. The aerosol applicator atomizes Concrobium Mold Control into a super-fine mist making it the perfect format for treating challenging to reach mold.
Recommended To get
Mid-sized jobs: 100 - 150 square feet; hold-and-spray application means no 'trigger fatigue'.
Hard to Reach Places: Cupboards; under sinks; in closets; any place where the traditional format spray would be uncomfortable to apply.
Fogging/Musty Odors: functions like a “fogger” to clear stale odors due to fine droplet size; more convenient for small jobs. Other Occasions: mist eliminates “wetting” so great on fabrics, curtains, carpets and so forth Apply Concrobium Mold Control in a thin, even layer over the affected surface.
Enable to dry completely. With a Concrobium dampened cloth or brush, scrub the surface to clean away any remaining mildew stains and residue.
To safeguard against future mold growth, reapply Concrobium Mold Control on vulnerable surfaces.
I own a cabin cruiser that we live on seasonally. We are also allergic to any or all types of mold. We used Mold control aerosol on my boat this year and was blown away by the results. I originally bought the spray to clean my canvas enclosure that was covered in mold. The enclosure is over 17 years old and you can imagine how much mould accumulated over the years. With one application of mold control I had been able to wipe away the mold and prevent it all period! My canvas looks fresh again and I have always been not suffering the effects of the mold.
Mold Control worked wonderfully on the canvas I treated all the surfaces in my vessel cabin and areas mildew was likely to grow.

It also works great on my airconditioner coils and drain pan. I no longer have musty odors and I can enjoy being on the boat without suffering for my form allergies. Truly a life changing product, I couldn't be more happy and only wish I had discovered it sooner.
just bought the Mold Control last night after researching online how to get rid of mold. I are moving my mother and found a terrible mold concern in her basement. These things is amazing and in comparison to bleach, ammonia, etc . this product has hardly any smells or odors associated with this. I did have to reapply several times and do some pre scrubbing, but this mold was black! Definitely recommend!
